Hi,
I deployed a simple ToDo-app on a Hobby plan just to try Railway out. It's a Springboot-Angular app with a MySQL database instsnce. I seem to burn through the credit hand over fist so I have paused the plan until I figure out what's drawing all the money. Can you help me please? What part cost so much?
Brgds

You're able to see costs by service in Workspace settings > Usage > Click on your project then bottom right corner there's a "View Cost by Service."

Thanks for the reply. I can only see usage by resource. Memory Usage is responsible for $4.96, CPU $0.05 and Volume $0.04. I am just curious if this is normal, the balance in particular. I know the Hobby plan is just $5 a month but if a simple app eats up that credit in 14 days (I think I pay for extra usage, right?) the pricing doesn't seem realistic? If I hadn't stopped the app, would Railway simply continue to charge me for usage exceeding the $5? Just trying to understand how it works.

You can view resource usage by service there.
Also, yes. Unless you have set up hard limits usage settings under your workspace, Railway will continue to charge for extra resource usage when you have exceeded the $5 of credits.

Oddly I don't have that option, at least on my phone screen (see my printscreen). The Hobby plan includes 8 GB RAM usage but my graph shows I am steady at 1 GB.

Railway web on mobile can get a lil finicky.
Yes, the Hobby plan includes 8 GB of RAM, but that is 8GB of RAM per replica of a service. You will still be billed $10/GB/month for RAM.

Now it starts to make sense, ChatGPT summarized it for me. That was a bit confusing. Seems both Springboot and MySQL are quite heavy hitters by default.
