I don't understand the $5 usage

Please explain the attached invoice. I was operating under the assumption that paying for the $5 plan gave me $5 of usage and not that I would also be billed again for that $5. For example, if my usage was $7 and I am paying $5 every month, I would expect my bill to be $2.

Can you please clarify this for me?

You probably had $5 worth of unused trial credits that were used towards your subscription.

You pay $5 a month. That means if your services' resources (RAM, CPU, Egress) cost <= $5, you only pay the monthly $5 fee. However you are charged for usage if you exceed the $5, meaning if your Current usage is more than $5, let's say $7. Then you pay the extra $2 as well.

Think of it as a "minimum spend" of $5. You will never pay less than $5, and you only pay more than $5 if your actual resource usage exceeds that amount.
