Internal name.com account transfer of my 5 Railway-purchased domains

Hi,

I'd like to move my Railway-purchased domains into my personal name.com account rather than do an EPP transfer, since name.com is already the registrar of record and rejects an inbound transfer ("domain is already with name.com, use the account transfer tool").

Domains: all my domains (5 of them)

Please initiate the name.com account-to-account transfer for all five, keeping DNS records intact. Thanks!

We confirmed all five domains on the workspace and they are all eligible for transfer, but we don't perform internal name.com account-to-account transfers. The self-serve path we offer is the standard EPP transfer out to a different registrar, available at your workspace domains page under each domain's transfer-out flow. An internal move within name.com's own system is not something we can initiate on your behalf.

where do you have that rule stated in your terms and conditions?

It is not a terms-of-service rule. An internal name.com account-to-account move is simply not a service we offer. The domain transfer mechanism we provide is the self-serve EPP transfer out, which moves a domain to a different registrar.

Two quick things before I run the transfer-out flow:

  1. Since Railway is the registrant contact of record, will the registrant details update to me automatically at the gaining registrar once the transfer completes, or do I need to update contacts there myself afterward?

  2. I'll be setting custom nameservers and moving DNS off Railway before pulling the EPP codes so the zone doesn't drop mid-transfer. Is there any interaction between custom nameservers and the transfer-out flow I should know about, or are they fully independent?

htanks.

This is a question the Railway community is better placed to answer than support: people who have already worked this out on their own projects and can tell you what actually worked.

So we'd like to open your thread as a community bounty. Railway pays a bounty to the community member who answers it, and threads like this usually get picked up quickly.

Opening it makes this entire thread public, including everything already posted. Nothing becomes public until you decide. Use the buttons below.

  • Keep it private and close the thread - Nothing becomes public and the thread closes.

  1. When you transfer to a different registrar, the registrant details will be updated to the registrant details associated with the account you're transferring to.
  2. IIRC they're independent, so traffic shouldn't be affected. (Btw, I'd recommend using Cloudflare's NS)

I initiated my transfer since 2 days but I see the progress only on the cloudflare side not railway why? how can we speed up the process from railway/name.com side?

What do you mean by "progress"?
