Pricing Spike

Hi Railway,

I'm rather new here and am just starting to utilize all the amazing features I didn't really notice the first few months.

My bill spiked from $20 to over $100 last month and I'm just looking for some clarity as to why. None of the sites are high traffic, and I'm pretty sure only one has an actual live domain pointed to it.

I have added / cloned several sites and been demoing a lot of different features and deploying a lot. Is this what caused the price increase?

I'm coming from Kinsta so this billing model is different to me, I assumed that the bill would only be reflective of user traffic, but I can't imagine there was more than a hundred or so visits last month, 90% of everything is in various stages of development and not public.

Thank you,

Thomas

Hey, Railway only charges for your usage, if you are billed $100, then it would indicate that you have used $100 of resources. I would recommend to check your usage breakdown for your projects/services for the past month at https://railway.com/workspace/usage. This will let you pinpoint the reasons for the price increase. One of the more common mistakes I have seen, is the use of public networking when exchanging large amounts of data, as opposed to utilizing private networking when possible.

Thank you for that info.

It appears that the Railway Campfire template was costing about $2 a day per installation and I had several. Could there be something wrong with it? That seems strong for just installing and not even using besides a few demos.

I am afraid that this is just how much Campfire consumes, since you have multiples of them and are just using them for demos, have you tried enable the serverless feature for each of them? This will result in huge savings with the services only running when being accessed.
