I'm looking to get a Hobby plan.

The following wording confuse me: After credits are used, you'll only be charged for extra resource usage"

What does this extra usage means?

Is the usage dependent only on my project, or on my project usage, which I do not control.

I'm worry from getting a bill shock at end of the month.

I want to cap my usage.

Please advise.

“Extra resource usage” means consumption beyond the $5 credit, which includes:

• CPU time

• Memory (RAM)

• Network egress (outbound bandwidth)

• Persistent storage (volumes)

About usage control:

• Usage depends on your project’s actual consumption (CPU, RAM, bandwidth) - not traffic you can’t control

• Railway currently doesn’t offer hard spending caps - you can only monitor usage

• Charges are usage-based (billed per minute of resource consumption)

To avoid bill shock: Start small, monitor your usage dashboard for a week to estimate monthly costs, and consider using serverless mode (sleeps after 10min inactivity) to reduce costs.
