Hi community!
I'm currently on the Hobby plan ($5 included credits) and paying around $32/month total.
Am I correct in understanding that:
- My actual resource usage is ~$27/month
- On Pro, I would pay: $20 (plan) + $7 (overage) = $27/month total
- This would save me ~$5/month compared to Hobby?
Could you please confirm if my calculation is correct?
Thank you!

Hey, no your assumption is not correct. Your usage is $32 a month, upgrading to the pro plan isn't cheaper, it would cost the same. The hobby plan costs $5 and includes $5 of usage. If your usage is $6, then you will pay $6 ($5 for the hobby plan which includes $5 and $1 extra for the additional usage). Your usage of $32 implies that you have used the included $5 and an additional $27 of usage. The easiest way to think about it, is that you are always charged exactly for your usage with a minimum charge of $5 on the hobby plan.
Since your usage is already over $20 a month, you might as well upgrade to the pro plan for higher limits and additional features/perks. The pro plan includes $20 of usage or in other words, has a minimum charge of $20.
The documentation also has an example on how the included usage works: https://docs.railway.com/reference/pricing/plans#included-usage.
