Hi, just hoping to connect railway to some standard instrumentation products/options that work well with it? Can someone give me some advise here?

Thanks

Hey! Happy to help — there are a few options that play really nicely with Railway depending on what you're trying to monitor.

For most teams, these three cover everything:

  • Datadog — full-stack observability, works great with Railway via the Datadog agent as a sidecar service. Logs, metrics, traces all in one place.
  • Better Stack (Logtail) — the easiest to set up on Railway. Just point your log drain to Better Stack and you're done in minutes. Really clean UI too.
  • OpenTelemetry — if you want vendor-neutral instrumentation, set up the OTel collector as a Railway service and export to whatever backend you prefer (Grafana, Honeycomb, Jaeger, etc.).

For quick wins without extra infra:

  • Railway's built-in Metrics tab covers CPU, memory, and network out of the box — no setup needed.
  • Sentry for error tracking and performance — just add the SDK to your app, zero infra required.

What kind of app are you running and what are you mainly trying to track — errors, latency, logs, or all of the above? That'll help narrow it down to the best fit for you.
