Certain services require CNAME records at the apex of a domain like Railway. Many registrars don't support this functionality. Other DNS providers have introduced newer DNS standards such as ALIAS and ANAME records that allow CNAME-like functionality at the apex.

This would be super helpful. My domain provider that I've had for many years will not support using @ for the hostname of a cname record. I really don't want to switch domain providers just for this.

The only thing holding me back from using Railway right now is having to use a Cloudflare Proxy because my domain registrar does not fully support CNAME records for the root domain.

Nicholas Killin: And the described workaround (using a Cloudflare Proxy) is a no-go for me.

I'd like to see ANAME records fully supported (e.g., DNS Made Easy).

A or AAAA records are a lot faster. 1 lookup vs 2 lookups with a CNAME is a big difference (~50%)The inability to use A records is holding me back from moving serious projects from AWS to Railway. I would even be willing to pay extra for this feature.
Is there a date we can expect more functionality in that regard?
