Adding another strong +1 here — and specifically calling out the need for both Australia and New Zealand regions.

I'm building an AI-native SaaS product and actively pursuing enterprise customers in AU/NZ. Data sovereignty is consistently one of the first questions that comes up in enterprise sales conversations — particularly around the Australian Privacy Act, NZ Privacy Act 2020, and sector-specific compliance requirements (finance, health, government).

Singapore as a proxy for APAC doesn't cut it for these customers. They need data to remain onshore within AU or NZ jurisdiction — it's often a hard blocker, not a nice-to-have.

Railway is genuinely the best DX on the market and I'd love to standardise on it across all my products, but without AU/NZ region support I'm being forced to evaluate alternatives that offer local hosting. This is a direct revenue and enterprise adoption blocker for Railway in this region.

Would love to see this reconsidered — even an AU region (Sydney) as a starting point would unlock a significant segment of enterprise deals for builders like me operating in this market.

Adding a +1 as well. Sydney would reduce the latency we are seeing, as well as open up several projects that will have data sovereignty constraints.

Hello, adding my +1 here as well. This will allow me to place a lot more services with Railway than I can currently rather than continue to look for a "railway like" supplier with point of presence in Australia

Who do we get this moving....Can I make some phone calls, book some meetings, pound the pavement?

We aren't currently seeing a wide enough need for an Australian region, so we wouldn't be able to start on that just yet.

If you can provide us with some numbers you need to hit I am sure we can all shake the tin to get you a few customers but it really is a "build it and they will come thing" But we also know given you roll/deploy your own hardware so it won't happen overnight.

Australian companies have tight regulations with data storage. It would be really helpful to have this. Otherwise we will have to migrate elsewhere.

Thank you all for your interest! Unfortunately, I cannot provide concrete numbers, but we would need an order of magnitude more votes than we are currently looking at to put this on the board.

To add another angle of justification for this..

All of Australia is currently seeing terrible latency to Singapore as our subsea link has been severed.

The result of this damage is that Australian connections to Singapore are now being routed across the globe with terrible latency and no ETA on a fix.

This is an excellent reminder that Australian hosting is a requirement for anyone in Australia wanting a compliant solution, but it is also a requirement for a performant, resilient, and effective solution.

I hope this is considered in all assessments for Australian hosting because honestly, if I did have any workloads running in Singapore right now - I’d be doing everything in my power to migrate out.

That may sound dramatic but, it is true and most people/businesses that care about their product/solution (that has no data residency requirements of course) and chose to run their workloads in Singapore would make the same decision.

The current options for Australians acts as a deterrent for potential customers (like many in these threads), but also add’s another reason for existing customers from Australia to leave.

I do agree with Alex’s take too; it isn’t a thing of expressed interest, it is 100% a “build it and they will come” sort of thing.

Please note that I only wrote this rambling novel because I genuinely want this platform to be my one and only solution (for the incredible DX of course) but, I live in Australia and in Australia, it unfortunately just isn’t ticking the boxes.
