Use case
I build small static websites (HTML/CSS/JS, portfolios, landing pages, club sites) and often need to get them live quickly. Right now on Railway, even for a simple static site I have to create a GitHub repo, push my code, connect the repo, and then configure the build and start settings. For a beginner or for a quick demo, this is a lot of steps for something very simple.
Current solution
I either use GitHub-based deploys on Railway (too many steps for a simple site), or I go to Netlify, where I just drag and drop my project folder and the site is live in seconds.
What I’d love to see
A drag-and-drop deploy option in the dashboard:
1 Click “New Project” → “Drag & Drop Deploy”
2 Drop a folder or a .zip of the site files
3 Railway automatically detects the static site (index.html) and serves it
4 I get a live URL right away, with the option to add a custom domain later
5 To update the site, I just drop the new files again to redeploy
Why this matters
Makes Railway much friendlier for students and beginners who don’t know Git yet
Great for quick prototypes, demos, and client previews
Removes the GitHub requirement for simple projects
Brings in users who currently go to Netlify just for this one feature
Netlify Drop is a good reference for how simple this flow can be.
