Hello Railway team and community,
I’ve been loving the ease of use with Railway for deploying services, especially Postgres. However, I’ve noticed that when creating a new Postgres service, there doesn’t seem to be an option to specify the deployment region. For some use cases, having control over where the service is hosted (e.g., closer to end users or for compliance reasons) would be incredibly valuable.
Is this something that’s currently in the works or planned for a future update? If not, I’d love to hear if there’s a workaround to achieve this, or if it could be considered as a feature request. I think it’d add even more flexibility to an already fantastic platform.
Thanks for any insights or guidance you can share!

Hello,
By default any new deployment such as a Postgres database will deploy to your preferred region, and you can change that in your workspace settings -
If you would also like to be able to deploy to Metal, please make sure you have the Metal Volumes feature flag enabled -

Thank you Brody! I was going bananas last night trying to figure out how to specify a region. Glad I asked :-)

I'm really frustrated because I have configured Amsterdam (METAL) as my preferred region, and although the service will deploy there initially, it automatically migrates to Oregon as soon as I try to attach a volume!
