Hi Railway team,

I changed the region of a service that had a persistent volume attached, and all the data that was stored on the volume (~2 GB of uploaded

image/video files) is now gone. The service is back online, but the volume appears empty.

I understand region changes may recreate the volume in the new region, but I was not aware the existing data would not be migrated, and I

urgently need to recover it.

Details:

  • Project name: luminous-inspiration
  • Service name: file uploader
  • Public domain: web-production-d38dc.up.railway.app
  • Volume name: web-volume
  • Old region (where the data was): US West Cal
  • New region (current): Singapore
  • Approx. time of the region change (UTC): maybe UTC 03:15~02:25
  • Plan: Pro

My questions / requests:

  1. Is the volume from the old region still retained on your side? If so, can you reattach it to this service or export its data so I can

recover the files?

  1. Is there any automatic backup / snapshot of this volume taken before the region change that can be restored?
  2. If recovery isn't possible by reattaching, can your engineering team retrieve the data from the old region's underlying storage?

Time-sensitivity: I have not redeployed or written new data since discovering this, to avoid overwriting anything.

I'd really appreciate a fast response, as I understand the old storage may be reclaimed over time. Thank you very much for your help.
