What do you mean by panel?

What kind of panel?

In the screenshot, you can see an Insert Panel with modules like contacts and invoices. My question is: How should I position this panel? It needs to be on the right side, but currently, it doesn't look great combined with the canvas border. I want to keep the border, but I'm looking for a cleaner way to integrate the panel on the right

Maybe you can do something similar to Railway where the Insert Panel pops up upon right clicking anywhere in the canvas where there isn’t an item.

And categorize different panels by type so it’s not a huge list to scroll through.

No.

Right click on your canvas and see what happens.
A popup shows, prompting you to add a volume, service, etc.

(If I correctly understand what you’re trying to achieve here…)

The Insert Panel needs to stay fixed on the right side because each module (like invoices) can be opened for editing. It shouldn't be a pop-up, as the user needs to work on the canvas and edit a module at the same time. My challenge is making this panel look integrated without breaking the aesthetic of the canvas border.

Well in this case, yes, you can do something similar to what you sent in your screenshot of Railway.

However, my question is, why not separate insert and edit panels? You can’t edit and insert at the same time right?

Yes, that's correct, but it feels better when it's in the same position where the insert panel is. You can still interact with the canvas and have the option to keep the invoice open on the right at the same time.

Fair.
You can do a hovering panel like what Railway did then.
Also prevents the canvas from changing its position too.

And to make the insert panel take up the same width as the edit panel, you can change display style into a grid.

if i understand it correctly like that i send it?

Yes.

Yeah, that’s great, so it doesn't feel so separate. I need to design this for older people as well, because it's an app for managing plumbing businesses in Switzerland. I'm a plumber in Switzerland myself, and the software my boss currently uses is garbage.
