Hi everyone,

I'm running a Rails API server with 2 replicas, and recently encountered a strange issue where both API instances suddenly stopped accepting incoming requests for about 3 minutes.

There were no deployments or configuration changes at the time. Background workers (Sidekiq) continued to function normally during the incident, so it doesn't appear to be a system-wide outage.

Both replicas became unresponsive simultaneously, and after around 3 minutes, they resumed accepting requests without any manual intervention.

I've observed this exact pattern twice now. Since I'm planning to run a ~$30K traffic campaign soon, I'd like to understand the possible cause before moving forward.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas on what might be causing this?
