Hello,
I'm getting a "502 Bad Gateway - Application failed to respond" error when trying to access my deployed application on Railway.
Current Setup:
Application: Node.js + Express + React (vacation rental platform)
Framework: Vite + Express
Database: PostgreSQL (Neon)
Port Configuration: App is configured to listen on
process.env.PORTand bind to0.0.0.0
What's Working:
Application runs perfectly on Replit (localhost:5000)
The app is correctly configured to listen on the PORT environment variable Railway provides
All Express routes are functional
What's Failing:
When deployed to Railway, the app returns 502 Bad Gateway
Request ID: jp08az7aTUKdH9oGDcO5xA
The app appears to start but fails to respond to requests
Configuration Details:
Application listens on:
0.0.0.0:PORTEnvironment Variables Set: DATABASE_URL, NODE_ENV=production, SESSION_SECRET
Build command:
npm run buildStart command:
npm run devTarget port: 5000 (matches what app listens on)
What I've Verified:
App starts without errors locally
Port configuration is correct (0.0.0.0:PORT)
Environment variables are set in Railway
Database URL is configured
Could you help me troubleshoot why the app isn't responding on Railway? Is there a deployment log I can check?
