Are there plans for read/write replicas for databases?

Particularly for Postgres. There was a thread on this but I didn't want to necro that/there wasn't much movement on that when it was posted.

Automatic minor/patch updates to Postgres deployments without any downtime would be an additional plus, which I feel this overlaps with.

Hello,

There hasn't been any movement on this feature from our side either. We do support automatic image upgrades, but these would involve downtime since our databases are unmanaged.

For zero-downtime database upgrades, you would need a managed database service that handles replication and failover during upgrades.

Best,

Brody

Thanks for the answer! It would be nice to have this in the future, but I can make do for now with minor downtimes for internal tools and external managed databases for customer-facing applications.

I'm sure we will do managed databases at some point since we want to own the experience, but that will be down the road, just something to look forward to is all!
