I would like to know the step-by-step process to cancel my basic 5 dollar plan, which was done with my credit card

Click your profile icon at the top right of the site -> Billing -> Manage Subscription -> Cancel plan.

That's referred to as a refund, you can request a refund by clicking on the refund button of your last invoice.
