Build failing on Railway with empty build logs (stops at 'scheduling build on Metal builder')

Hi Railway Support,

I’m having trouble deploying my backend service on Railway. Every deployment fails during the build stage in ~18–20 seconds with the message “Failed to build an image. Please check the build logs for more details,” but the Build Logs don’t show any build steps.

The only line that appears in Build Logs is:

  • “scheduling build on Metal builder …”

After that, nothing else is logged (no cloning, no Nixpacks/Docker output, no npm install/build steps), and the deployment stops before it reaches Deploy/Post-deploy.

Howdy! Sorry you're running into this.
We have a project we're working on which will be fixing a whole bunch of things from the "push code" -> "get it live" flow.
Until then, if you try aborting/redeploying it should go through. Otherwise you can switch metal builder off for now and all should be well!
