I'm trying to connect my github to my gmail-based railway account but when I click Connect on the github integration, it just logs me into a new fresh account

Hi,
Can you please provide reproduction steps on what you're doing (the pages you're on, what you're clicking, what you're seeing)? This would help me trace down where/what the exact issue is.
Are you using Firefox containers or anything similar that changes your Browser profile while you're being redirected to GitHub and back?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I am facing the same issue.
1 - The reproduction of the issue is straightforward. When I try to connect my Github repo to the Railway account, instead of connecting that account for Github, it created a new account and logs in using that account (using Github auth).
2 - I am using Brave browser.

As reproduction steps, please tell which page you are on when trying to connect GitHub, what you are clicking and what is then happening. Connecting a GitHub repo to the Railway account is has a few different parts.
When you now try to connect a GitHub account but something goes wrong, like your Browser session switches to a different profile, it should now show an error message instead of creating a new account. If it doesn't, it helps me to know exactly where this behavior is happening.

I was at https://railway.com/new/github and say I was logged in using "MyRailwayAcc" which was created using an email address and Railway sent the code to login. Now I clicked "Connect Github", it asked me to continue and authorize the app however when it redirected back, it had Railway logged in using "MyGithubAcc" instead of my Railway account.

The same is happening here. It also happens when I open a project on https://railway.com/project/<id-of-the-project>, then right click to add a new service and then click GitHub. It tells me to connect to GitHub and then I get logged into a new account with my GitHub credentials.
I found out about this problem because I was trying to get my repos to show up on one of my services for deployment, not matter how many times I removed railway and revoked access from github, they simply do not show up, but my repos do show up on this newly created account with my GitHub account, so the issue might have something to do with this.

Thanks, it helps a ton to know that this is happening in the project view. I was able to reproduce.
As a workaround, connecting GitHub seems to work from the Account Settings. Connect your GitHub account there. See the attached screenshot.
I'll look into why that bug is happening in the project view.
