Are you using the root domain for a CNAME record?

If I look under root directory all it says is website

What I asked was if you were trying to add a CNAME record to @ .

Again this is not my world. I have zero experience doing this. I asked GoDaddy what to do and followed there instructions and it didn't work. I went into public networking, clicked on the purple Link that said show DNS records, copy the c name and added it into GoDaddy.

Would you be willing to share the domain you're trying to add into Railway? It would help with debugging.

If I do that then anyone would have access to it. I'm not sure how comfortable I feel about that

You can edit the message to remove the domain after sending it.

Ultimately, I'm only able to provide GoDaddy's documentation on how to add DNS records and to tell you to make sure you're clicking the buttons in Railway to copy the entire string of the DNS content instead of manually selecting/copying.

what about the value? I did have _railway-verify just not the .www after it

Since you're using www on your domain, you need to use _railway-verify.www.

As for content, the Railway dashboard will show you the CNAME and TXT record required for you to add.

ok i updated the txt with the missing www hopefully that solves the issue

It does not seem to be working yet. I know GoDaddy says up to 48 hours

delete the pre existing CNAME record and re add it , and make sure name feild has only www not the complete domain name and the "value to " feild has the exactly same CNAME value and then wait for 1hr or something for the DNS to get updates

this is the error message when i try to do that. I deleted the old one like you told me to and refreshed the page to make sure it was gone.

Site seems to work now.
