Hello,
I apologize if I am posting this wrong. I would like to use Railway to host a freedom of speech social networking act. I am wondering if I could potentially be in breach of the Terms of Service if one of my users says something inappropriate. Could someone please explain how this works?
Thank you!

Yes, on Railway (according to the terms of service you're responsible for what your users do on your services [under User Submissions] and by using Railway you agree that you will not store or provide certain things through your services
I think this piece pretty much sums it up
You agree that you will not post, upload, share, store, or otherwise provide through the Services any User Submissions that: (i) infringe any third party's copyrights or other rights (e.g., trademark, privacy rights, etc.); (ii) contain sexually explicit content or p*rnography; (iii) contain hateful, defamatory, or discriminatory content or incite hatred against any individual or group; (iv) exploit minors; (v) depict unlawful acts or extreme violence; (vi) depict animal cruelty or extreme violence towards animals; (vii) promote fraudulent schemes, multi-level marketing (MLM) schemes, get rich quick schemes, online gaming and gambling, cash gifting, work from home businesses, or any other dubious money-making ventures; or (viii) that violate any law.-# Quoted from Railway terms of service under the before mentioned User Submissions section
From what I understand, it means you'll have to put reasonable measures in place to handle situations where users break the before mentioned rules
Of course I'm no legal expert and I can't say for sure that this is the correct way to interpret this so you're very welcome to read the terms of service yourself as well
Thank you very much. I know you are not a lawyer, and I understand if that's all you can say, but my main issue is with the "hateful, defamatory, or discriminatory content." I don't want people to be able to post on my network any of the things you mentioned, obviously, but if someone says, for example: I don't like this particular religious group and does not advocate violence, is that ok?

That's difficult, I did some research and personally I don't think that text falls under "hateful" (in a legal sense) so I'd say it's okay but then again I'm not the one who enforces these rules so I can't really tell you how Railway themselves will feel about it
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. I have one last question, if I try to host and run this myself, do you know if internet companies have the same rules? I don't want a place for anybody to do anything illegal, but everytime a social network is created, the moderators inevitably silence only people they don't like and claim its violating that specific part of their ToS, its a dream I have to find a place where people could really say what they want and not be punished for it unless it was a clear crime

If with internet companies you mean ISPs, I don't believe they care what you post online as long as it's not illegal or malicious

Although that'd obviously depend on the ISP
I am looking for programmer friends. Can I add you? You can obviously say no.

I appreciate the offer but I try to keep my friends-list limited to close friends and peers, but we can still talk <#727689277219012669> for sure 🙂 You'll meet even more people there, this server is full of friendly programmers

Ask away, if I don't respond right away then I'm asleep (it's 1 am for me)

If you're trying to find your domain's DNS settings, you'll need to go to the place where you bought the domain from

if you're trying to change the DNS settings of a Railway provided domain, you can't unfortunately
is there a way to have a domain I bought with a registrar point to my railyway domain?
yes, you can add a custom domain in your service settings

make sure your nameserver has support for root level CNAMEs though if you plan to attach the domain on root
if it doesn't you need to use Cloudflare as a nameserver, you can find a guide for how to transfer to Cloudflare online if needed
