Creating small volume

I'm on Railway's Pro plan and as the docs say in https://docs.railway.com/volumes/reference#size-limits new volumes are created for me with a 50GB size.

However I want to limit that for some of my apps and use cases, as sometimes storage limits are not easily controlled from the logic within a given app.

But it seems Railway only allows me to increase the size for a volume, and I can't find a way to configure the size on volume creation.

Can this be done somehow?

There's currently no way to set a custom initial size when creating a volume or to downsize one afterward. Volumes are always created at the plan default (50GB for Pro) and can only be increased from there. Worth noting that you're only billed for actual storage used, not the full 50GB allocation, so there's no cost impact from the larger default. For enforcing storage limits at the application level, that would need to be handled within your app or container configuration since we don't offer a "hard cap" feature on volume usage.

I see, thanks for the response. Would love to have a feature in the future to at least create smaller volumes! 🙂
