You'd have to use cloudflare dns (or any other dns manager that supports that)

I use godaddy, and I was able to get custom domain names and custom subdoamin names working.

this is all I did on godaddy. But I used a subdomain instead of a www or an @

their domain works fine now, they just need to set up their projects structure properly
