Custom domain CNAME issue

Hi,

I am trying to connect my domain to this app, but seem to be getting issues in doing so. I have done the one-click Cloudflare connection, but the CNAME doesn't seem to work. It shows as proxied in Cloudflare and the CNAME has been added, but still shows a warning, resulting in this when going to the domain (trackely.co.uk):

Not Found

The train has not arrived at the station.

Please check your network settings to confirm that your domain has provisioned.

If you are a visitor, please let the owner know you're stuck at the station.

Can you let me know what I need to do to get this domain working, please?

If it helps, this is the public networking setup:

Your DNS is correctly pointing through Cloudflare. The "train has not arrived" error typically means the domain hasn't fully provisioned yet. Please confirm your Cloudflare SSL/TLS encryption mode is set to Full (not Flexible, and not Full Strict) under SSL/TLS > Overview in your Cloudflare dashboard. If it's already set to Full and the issue persists, try temporarily toggling the Cloudflare proxy off (grey cloud), wait for Railway to verify the domain (green checkmark in your service settings), then turn the proxy back on.

Hi,

Apologies for the delayed response. I did follow your advice and keeping the proxy off has resolved this issue.

I now want to make use of the www subdomain but I can't seem to get this working. I've tried creating a CNAME with name www and value as trackely.co.uk. If this is not correct, can you advise on what record to create with the name and value, please?

Thank you.

Hey, you most likely want to add www.trackely.co.uk as another subdomain on Railway, which you can do in your service's settings (just like how you have added the apex domain). Personally, since you are already using Cloudflare, I would suggest using a redirect rule that redirects the www subdomain to the apex domain, avoiding the www subdomain entirely and have just one clean apex domain.

I have attached a screenshot below, which was taken from Cloudflare's dashboard while creating a redirect rule (redirecting from www to root (apex) can be added with just one click as it is a template they suggest if you are creating a redirect rule).
