My custom domain suddenly stopped working: https://thedeepspace.fun/ around a week ago.
The service is available via Railways URL tho: web-production-9e70b.up.railway.app
I tried to remove and add it again few times, each time I was using the provided CNAME for Namecheap DNS update.
Each time it got stuck in the state: Validating domain ownership

Done. DNS updated with both old and new records. Still the same status - Validating domain ownership

So generally it takes around 15 mins to 1 hr to validate the ownership
meanwhile, couple of checks -
- Did you remove the existing DNS records in Namecheap and add only the records provided by Railway?
- Is Namecheap actually your active DNS provider? A lot of people buy the domain on Namecheap but point nameservers to a different DNS host, then update records in the wrong place.
If none of the above apply to you, try using Cloudfare (I Personally found it to work smoothly with Railway). Just add Cloudfare's nameservers in namecheap, and add the DNS records in Cloudfare.

No. Still nothing: Validating domain ownership
Yes, Namecheap is my only DNS provider.
I'd be happy to possibly fix it with Railway directly before getting Cloudflare route.

This seems weird. Can you share the CNAME records which railway is providing to you, and a screenshot of where you added it in namecheap?

That's actually an issue with Railway.
Once you connect your domain they briefly show you DNS record without an ability to view it later. The popup that shows only once contains 2 values - new CNAME you need to copy and old for (for some reason). I tried all the combinations, to keep the old one, to remove it. All of them stuck with status "Validating domain ownership". So yeeeeah, looking for Railway alternative because of this.

Can you try once deleting the domains you added in railway & adding it again. Same on DNS provider, remove the older ones and add it again (the new records provided by railway).
If you can share the ss while adding these, would be helpful to debug.

Sure! I did it. Everything is in place, but "Validating domain ownership"

No response from the Railway support yet. Looks like nobody cares :-)
