I already had a domain through Namecheap, which your docs say should be fine. The custom domain works over the last 24 hours, except for https. What should I do?

Yo! What do you see when you browse to your site? It works over HTTPS for me so it may be a local caching issue on your end

Hey , can you confirm if your DNS CNAME is correctly set up, it is pointing to railways domain? It happaned to me several times, I always deleted it, generated a new one and it worked then quite fast. Normally it says it can take up to 24-48 hours but I realized it is never the case it should be much faster

Your CNAME is pointing to epjypnn2.up.railway.app but your Railway service domain is chaos-cauldron-production.up.railway.app. Update the CNAME value in Namecheap to match what Railway shows, then give it a few minutes for SSL to provision.

Yeah, because that is what Railway told me to put in my DNS when I clicked to do a custom URL. chaos-cauldron-production.up.railway.app is the url Railway gave me before. So do I delete this? Why would Railway give me a different URL if this is the one we are supposed to use?

ok I see sorry you are right. Its set up correctly. But still I would delete it and re-add it since its quite a while that this is not getting with SSL.

How do I put in a damn support request? I thought this place was for support. I'm new to Railway. Where are all the Railway employees?
They have this new system and if your message does not contain personal or confidential information it goes to the community
Try to delete and re-add it, I had waited like 24 hours then I did this and it was almost immediately solved

So yeah. I redid this yesterday. 24 hours ago. Deleted it and redid it. Still no SSL. Where are the Railway tech support people? How do I summon one? Do I need to put my damn social security number in here?

can you try something? I seen that in the CNAME in the DNS setting, the value is "....up.railway.app." for your instead of "....up.railway.app". At the end remove the point.

I deleted that a long time ago. There is ONLY WHAT RAILWAY TOLD ME now.

can you show me again your CNAME value and what they told you?
I don't know how to find what they told me, but I just copied and pasted. hlvdcdv5.up.railway.app.
actually you can't find it. When you set-up your custom domain, you can see it like once then you need to re-make it in order to have a new one.
Are you sure the point is not there in the DNS like what you copied for me?

The point at the end is there in the DNS. If I remove it, Namecheap gives me an error. So it has to be there.

No, it is a custom project using a Docker container so that I'm able to experiment with my own programming language.

When i faced this issue i switched to Cloudflare and it was the same, so i reverted back to Namecheap. What worked for me was deleting the service (only), recreate it and connected disks and db to the new service and re-deployed it.
The project needs a railway domain even if you added a custom domain, deleting the railway domain was breaking everytime. Hope that helps~

if you use cloudflare dou you have the proxy disabled? Apparently it must be DNS only makes it work for railway SSL.
I am using custom domain as well but I bought the domain from a european service provider and had no issue at all. Sometimes I had to set up the dns again but after all it was working.

Gotcha. I'm seeing it now on Firefox, just not on Chrome. You're right, it must be a caching thing or something. Thanks for all the help, everyone!

Good to hear! Going to consider this resolved
Thank you everyone for chiming in
