Custom Domian . net::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID

I have created a custom domain using a 3rd party hosting company. The website is linked to the custom but I get the "net::ERRCERTCOMMONNAMEINVALID" error when I navigate to the site. Having read some similar issues other people are having. I'am I right in thinking I need to set things up in cloudflare to get SSL/TLS support, enabling https or is it another issue?
