Hi! I have a JS project linked to a Postgres database (with a volume attached).
I was on the hobby tier, but got a notification that the disk space was > 5 GB, so decided to upgrade to the Team Plan until I figure it out what was happening (The database should be small).
I recreated everything and now it's taking 1.19 GB (instead of 5 GB)
I downloaded the database using pg_dump, and it's ~30 MBs.
What Am I missing? Where is all the other space coming from? Is there a way to debug / connect to the volume?
Thanks!

Hi,
I can confirm that your current db is ~ 1.19 GB. It's hard to say what is going without the old db.
My suggestion: I will give you 25 dollars in credit. That will cover both of your accounts (please note that the Pro is not an upgrade but a second account--you now have a personal Railway plan and a team plan). The 25 dollars in credit will cover your costs while you decide which plan is the right one for you. You can also use the time to continue to monitor your volume consumption

That's the issue. I used pg_dump to export: pg_dump "my_postgres_DATABASE_PUBLIC_URL" and the database with all the data is around 30 MB.

So not sure where the 1.19 GB is coming from. Definitely it's not the data stored in the database.
Is there a way to connect to the volume and see where all this space is coming from?
Thanks.

Hey there, Postgres stores much more data on disk than just your raw data, this kind of usage while understandably strange is completely normal and expected for Postgres.
I'm sure there are articles online that could explain it, but tl;dr this is perfectly normal.
