Just was wondering, because railway being down is very bad for sales (skull)

I can only tell you what I've seen team members say in public since that's all I know, and I've seen them say multiple times to pro users that a deployment can be "manually waved through"
Last night a deployment failed at a very inopportune moment that almost cost a demo this morning, I just really need to know that it (railway) will work when I need it to
2 years ago
it was at the exact moment that railway had a service degradation lmao

do you have a slack channel with the team?
no, we're on pro, not enterprise
pro users afaik are allowed a slack channel

oh
ok
@alex - we can set up a Slack channel between you and the team

thanks
angelo, I have no idea how to do this

what is an enterprise
I've never used slack before lmao

Does EduBeyond use Slack to conduct it's communications?
no
we use discord, like you guys
What platform do they use?
Hmmmm, not that you aren't a legitimate company, you most definitely are, but the larger companies tend to use Slack so we deprecated our Discord Direct Support in favor of Slack.

Lemme see what we can do

The main issue I see is that when you raise an issue it's usually in <#727689277219012669> in which the on-call doesn't monitor 24/7

Every day I want to do something for free, and the next day I am faced with the consequences of those decisions

Anyway

I can actually use <#1006629907067064482> if that's necessary, usually I just look for brody though

https://help.railway.app - what's the avg. response time you observe and what's your expected response time?
If you need to page us (like on PagerDuty) we require $1,000 min spend. (For now.)
If that sounds amenable to your team, we can set that up.

I'm going to be completely honest, I have never posted anything on the new helpdesk. I can try doing that, but it's not really that I need help…
it's more that railway breaking in the middle of the night (as it's been doing frequently) is very much not something I can afford to try and deal with right now. As much as I meme in the discord, I really do need to deploy stuff and make sure it works 100% of the time (when it's not my fault)

on a related note, is a Discord channel integration planned? we use Discord as our main in my company
2 years ago
No, I am with you there.
it's currently 3:30 AM and I really want railway to work, but I have to babysit the builds even though I know they work on localhost and ci/cd because last night things went… very poorly
2 years ago
Not sure how much throwing money at this specific problem can help, but
2 years ago
Re: @ThallesComH, companies weren't paying for the Discord integration, they wanted Slack so we pivoted those eng cycles to Slack. If you have that same level of spend, we can consider it but most of our companies really want us in Slack.
Throwing money puts us on a contractual relationship of uptime and response times.
Not ideal, but helps the Railway team know how to prioritize workloads.
We do not have enterprise money yet ($1000 a month is a lot)

We're spending like $200 though!
fair enough
We will continue to work on getting stuff to be reliable, and for what it's worth, I don't like sales convos where we are asking people money to make stuff work. But that's what an SLO and a contract is.

yeah, I was hoping an SLA/O would be less than unaffordable but it turns out it costs more than we're currently willing to spend

thanks for your time, angelo

Somewhat unrelated thing but something that's keeping EduBeyond from being a fully-on-railway thing is
anycast
funny distributed database system templates <- can ignore
2 years ago
we can throw more money at the problem when we can have all of our backend on railway 🙏 that will probably be more than enough hosting cost then
2 years ago
what "salary" might you be talking about
