This isn't expected behaviour - these are two separate environments and separate services. There should be no 'sharing' going on between them.

This is expected behavior and how Railway is designed. Services across environments are meant to represent each other so you can sync configurations between them, names and canvas positions are shared, but that's about all. Lower-level configurations like branches, start commands, and environment variables remain independent.

You really need to start listening to customers.

I understand this behavior can feel counterintuitive at first, but this is indeed how Railway's environment system is architected. Services across environments are designed to represent the same logical service, which is why names and canvas positions are shared between them.

If you need completely independent services with separate names, the approach would be to create a new project for your production environment rather than duplicating the environment. This gives you full isolation between the two setups.

That said, I hear your feedback that this isn't what you expected. If you'd like to see this behavior changed, I'd encourage you to submit a feature request at https://station.railway.com/roadmap, the team does review and prioritize based on user feedback there.
