Project ID: f1de28b3-7808-4fd9-bb61-d34bb6a6da01
Service: Postgres (6483e74a-786f-4da5-bdce-dd317a13afa0), environment production
Problem: TCP Proxy created against the Postgres service repeatedly fails to actually reach the database, even though the database itself is healthy (the api service in the same project connects to it fine over the internal network the whole time).
What I tried (all failed the same way):
- Created a TCP proxy → raw TCP connection sometimes succeeds, sometimes gets
ECONNRESETimmediately. - Even when the raw TCP connect succeeds, any actual Postgres protocol client (tested with Prisma) times out completing the handshake —
P1001: Can't reach database server. - Deleted and recreated the proxy multiple times (different proxy IDs/ports/domains each time) — same behavior every time.
- Ran
railway restart --service Postgresto restart the database service itself — command hung for several minutes with no output, eventually completed, but the issue persisted afterward. - Confirmed this isn't a client-side/network issue on my end: general internet connectivity is fine, and
railway status/railway variablescalls to Railway's own API work normally throughout.
Impact: Low — the live app isn't affected (it uses the internal network, not this proxy). This only blocks running a one-off prisma migrate deploy against production from outside Railway.
