I switched to the Hobby plan three days before the billing date, but today I was charged for the Pro plan!

The $19.08 charged on Aug 4 was for the Hobby plan ($5 base fee) plus resource usage (memory, network, disk) during the billing period, not the Pro plan. There is a separate open invoice for $14.96 related to a plan change to Pro, but no money was captured for it as the payment was declined. Your workspace is currently on the Hobby plan, and you can review the full breakdown at your workspace billing page.

Wait, I don't understand how this works! I was charged $20 on July 4th for the Pro monthly plan. On August 3rd, I changed the plan so I’d be charged $5 for August—because I wanted to pause my projects without cancelling the subscription—but for some damn reason, I got charged $20.

The $19.08 charged on Aug 4 is your Hobby plan bill, not Pro. The Hobby base fee is $5, but your services used $15.73 in memory, $2.81 in network, $0.84 in disk, and $0.12 in vCPU during the cycle, totaling $24.50 before the Hobby plan's $5 included-usage credit is applied, leaving $19.08. On Pro, that same usage was mostly absorbed by the larger $20 included-usage allowance, which is why you only saw the $20 base fee. When you downgrade to Hobby, the Pro allowance is forfeited immediately and replaced by the Hobby $5 allowance, so resource usage that was previously covered now appears as an extra charge. To reduce costs, you can stop or remove any services you are not actively using from your workspace billing page.

That's bullshit. Why the hell did they charge me 20 bucks on July 4th, then?

There was no indication that you would mislead me. I like your service, but I’m currently facing financial difficulties, and that money on the card was for my child! Yet now, your service has taken it.

The $20 on July 4th was correct - that was the Pro plan's $20/month base fee. Your resource usage that cycle (~$10) fell under the Pro plan's $20 included-usage allowance, so it was fully covered and you only paid the $20 base. The reason your August bill looks similar despite being on Hobby is that your services used roughly the same amount of resources, but now only $5 of usage is included instead of $20. We understand the frustration, and the charges do reflect real resources your services consumed. To stop further charges from accruing, you can stop or remove services you're not using from your workspace settings. If you'd like to request a refund, you can do so through our refund process.
