When clicking the icon of a service, i can search up the icon i want.
But when I want to select it, there is no way of persisting the icon (i cannot choose to use it).

To change a service icon, right-click the service on the project canvas, select "Update Info", then "Icon", and type to search available icons from our devicons service. You can also access this through the command palette (CMD/Ctrl + K). If the icon picker is not responding to clicks in Brave, try disabling Brave Shields for railway.com or testing in a standard Chromium/Chrome window to rule out a browser-specific issue.
