I recently noticed a $5 charge

I recently noticed a $5 charge on my account, and I would like to understand the reason behind it. When I first subscribed, I paid $5, and afterward, I understood that billing would be usage-based. However, despite my recent usage amounting to only around $3, I was charged $5 again.

Could you please clarify why this charge occurred and confirm whether my account is still on usage-based billing?

Hi,

The Hobby plan costs $5/mo. You are charged upfront for the subscription cost, and the minimum amount you pay is $5/mo with $5 of usage included (it is not a discount). To summarize:

  • Minimum Cost: $5/mo buys you $5 in usage. This is the minimum cost for using Railway on the Hobby plan.
  • Usage Under $5: You are still charged $5.
  • Usage Over $5: You are charged $5 + any additional usage you incur.

Please refer to https://docs.railway.app/reference/pricing#plan-pricing for more information.

Hope that helps!

As the bot has mentioned, the Hobby plan is 5$ every month at a minimum.
