Hi everyone,
I'm currently building a microservices-based application on Railway and am really enjoying the platform, especially the private networking feature. My project has already grown to 10 services, and this number is expected to increase as we continue development.
I've run into a roadblock while trying to configure a new service (specifically, Kafka) that requires a volume. I received an error indicating that I have reached the project's maximum limit of 10 volumes.
I have a couple of questions:
Is it possible to have the volume limit for a project increased? If so, what is the best process to request this?
I'm also curious about the reasoning behind the default limit. Is it a technical constraint or a policy for resource allocation?
Are there any best practices or alternative architectures recommended for managing persistence across many services on Railway that might reduce the need for so many individual volumes?
Any guidance or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hello!
On the Hobby plan, no, sorry, default limits can only be increased on the Pro plan. If you do decide to upgrade, this thread would be the best place to ask.
It would be a policy for resource allocation, we have similar (but higher) limits on amount of services as well.
Yes, there are, mainly our newly released S3-compatible bucket storage. Those do not count as volumes.
