Intermittent Network Issues Affecting Microservices Availability

Hello Railway Support Team,

We are currently experiencing intermittent network issues across our deployed services, which is impacting the overall availability of our platform.

Our architecture consists of multiple Dockerized microservices behind a central API Gateway, which is the only public entry point. Internally, services communicate with each other through Railway’s private networking.

However, we are observing the following problems:

  • Some APIs respond normally, while others fail to load or timeout intermittently.
  • Internal communication between services appears unstable or inconsistent.
  • The API Gateway is not able to reliably reach all downstream services.
  • These issues are not constant, but occur frequently enough to affect production reliability.

From our perspective, this appears to be related to network instability within Railway’s internal service communication layer, rather than application-level errors.

This situation is critical for us, as it directly impacts our production environment and service availability.

We would appreciate your support in:

  1. Verifying if there are ongoing network or infrastructure issues in our region/project.
  2. Checking the internal networking layer between services.
  3. Providing guidance or mitigation steps to stabilize service-to-service communication.

Please let us know if you need logs, service IDs, or any additional diagnostic information.

We look forward to your prompt assistance.

Hi there, we had networking disruptions earlier today that affected internal service-to-service connectivity for some projects but it's since been resolved. If you're still seeing intermittent failures, a full redeploy (not just restart) of your services should help by refreshing the internal DNS. If issues persist after that, let us know and we'll look at your project specifically.
