My client currently has a Railway Hobby plan on a different account and is trying to grant access to the correct email address by sending an invitation. However, I'm unable to accept the invitation. Does this mean that both accounts need to be on a paid (Hobby/Pro) plan in order for the invitation to be accepted, or is there another requirement I'm missing?

Workspace collaboration (adding members to a workspace) is a Pro and Enterprise feature. The Hobby plan is designed for personal projects and does not support adding workspace members, which is why the invitation cannot be accepted. Your client would need to upgrade to Pro to invite members to their workspace.

If he updates it to a Pro account and I have a Free Account can I collaborate(deploy or edit projects) with the invitation or do I need to update my plan?

Once your client's workspace is on Pro, you can accept the invitation and collaborate regardless of your own account's plan. The Pro plan on the workspace is what enables member invitations, and there is no additional seat cost or plan requirement for invited members.
