I've been using the free trial for my API, and with the $5 credit that the app keeps online for 2 months, I've noticed that my API isn't being used much. It's just me and my friends using it, with around 40 requests per day. Will the costs increase with the hobby plan due to better hardware? I don't want to spend much on this project, max of 2,5 dollars, like it was before

There isn't, and if there was, limiting available hardware would only cause your app to crash constantly if the app tried to use more resources than what it was limited to. If snowballing costs are a concern, set a usage limit.

Nope, the Hobby plan does not have "better hardware" it just gives you access to much more of it. The only increased costs would be the cost of the $5 hobby subscription fee (that also includes $5 /mo for resource usage costs).
