Issue with Deploying App and Database in the Same Region

Hi Railway Support Team,

I'm encountering an issue where I can't deploy my application and database in the same region. As a result, the website's speed has significantly decreased, and the performance is severely affected.

Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue? Is there any way to ensure the app and database are in the same region for optimal performance?

Looking forward to your guidance.

I have personally identified and am 100% confident that the slowdown is due to my database and application being in different regions. The latency caused by this regional mismatch is significantly affecting the performance.

Could you please help me find a way to deploy both the application and the database in the same region? This is critical for resolving the issue.

If it’s not possible to change the region, then why do you offer other options? Why mislead users who genuinely appreciate your service and are paying for it? This feels unfair to those of us who rely on Railway for our projects and want the best experience possible.

Please provide clarity on this issue, as it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.

Best regards,

Arthur

I’ve seen a response from one of your team members in a ticket that was exactly like mine, but that answer doesn’t address my concerns. Please note that a significant number of users are complaining about this issue.

I urge you to take a closer look at the problem and work on a solution. Let’s figure out how to resolve this together. Thank you for your understanding.

Hello,

Your service and database are not in different regions, they are in the same region, but different zones.

The database can not be moved to the California zone because the California zone does not yet support services with volumes.

The slow down is not caused by the difference in zones, the slow down is caused by your application using the public network to connect to the database.

Please use the private network to connect to the database going forward.

Hi Brody,

Thank you so much for your detailed response. I truly appreciate the clarification and the guidance provided. I will proceed with changing the connection from the public network to the private network and test the performance again.

Thanks once again for your support!
