Major Data Loss on Railway Postgres – Almost Entire DB Wiped, No Recent Backups

Hi everyone,

We’re dealing with a critical production issue on Railway Postgres and urgently need guidance.

Issue:

  • Almost all database data appears to be lost
  • Tables like products and others are now empty
  • Only partial data remains in audit_logs
  • This strongly indicates a database-level issue (not frontend/cache-related)

Timeline:

  • Data loss appears to have occurred on March 29
  • We need to recover data up to March 28 (before the issue started)

Current Situation:

  • We do NOT have recent backups
  • The only available backup is from ~3 months ago (not usable for recovery)

What we’re trying to understand:

  • Does Railway provide point-in-time recovery (PITR) or WAL-based recovery even if not exposed in the UI?
  • Are there any internal snapshots, volume-level restores, or hidden recovery options available via support?
  • Has anyone experienced similar large-scale data loss and managed to recover data on Railway?

We’ve already contacted Railway support, but since this involves production client data, we’re exploring every possible recovery path.

Any help, suggestions, or shared experiences would mean a lot.

Thanks
