We do not base your memory usage on visitors or any similar traffic metrics, your memory is simply what your application uses.

We can't tell you why your application has used the memory it has, similar to how your power company can tell you how much power you use, but they can't tell you why you used the power.

In hobby plan it was mention that we get 8gb of ram but my RAM usage is below 2 gb ,can you explain how are railways charging us extra over the 5 dollar amount of hobby plan when we were still under the limit of RAM usage.

I don't think that was a very helpful comment @brody. We can see the pricing list ourselves, I believe we need a bit more of an explanation. if monthly usage is staying at or near 2gb, but we get billed as if we went over the allotted 8gb of ram. where can we find the usage data so that we can see if there was a specific day or week that caused the overage. we have a similar situation we have 4 employees using the app daily and our app is just a couple of forms they use to submit reports throughout the day.

So that we can try to figure out what we can do to control the memory usage and try to stay under or close to the 8gb per month of allotted usage. Thank you in advance. Otherwise upgrade our plan if the need has changed.

Hey there Jay, you seen to have a slight misunderstanding on how billing / the Hobby plan works works.

The Hobby plan for the base subscription of $5 a month does not allot you 8 vCPU and 8 GB memory worth of usage, that is simply the maximum you are allowed to use per service.

It does however include $5 in resource usage (but 2 GB of memory would be more than $5).

It sounds like you have the idea that you are pre-paying $5 for 8 vCPU and 8 GB of memory, but that is not the case, we would go bankrupt very fast if we offered such a plan with all of our wonderful DX.

Speaking about resources only, If you are using 2 GB of memory, then you are simply charged for 2 GB of memory, since Railway is pay for your usage based, same for the Pro plan.
