Metal Build Environment enables randomly?

One of the regular deployments just went south in a very unexpected way, turned out MBE doesn't respect watch patterns and startCommand from railway.toml.

Turning MBE off resolved the issue, so I'm good for now.

What puzzles me though, is that I haven't enabled MBE myself, and a sibling service created at the same time has it turned off as well, so I presume it was turned on internally as part of some rollout plan or something?

Metal builder is slowly being rolled out. There have been issues reported and I do not understand why they are continuing with it.

Thanks for reporting this!

You're correct - we do gradual rollouts of new features to Hobby plans as we build release confidence, which is why MBE was enabled on your service. Thanks to your report, we're now that MBE currently doesn't respect watch patterns and startCommand from railway.toml.

With that said, we do flight features through Hobby quite a bit and although we don't aim to break anything in production this mishap nailed ya. As such, I have gone ahead and credited you. The goal in the medium term is drop a notification in your account and then let you if we touch any setting as a result of that flighting.

Mea culpa.
