MySQL 9 auto-upgrade broke production database (Hobby plan, restore blocked)

Hi,

I have an urgent problem with my MySQL database on Railway (project Publica Sur, production environment).

Context:

I received a scheduled security patch notification (CVE-2026-22009, etc.) that moved my service to MySQL 9. After that change, my database stopped working and my application cannot connect. I understand this update was automatic and I did not request it.

Current status:

The MySQL service is on the Hobby plan.

In the "Backups" tab I can see the snapshot "Pre-Security-Patch Backup" (from 1 day ago), but I cannot restore it because it says restoring requires the Pro plan.

My volume contains production data and I need to recover the service as soon as possible.

What I need:

Could you please restore my "Pre-Security-Patch Backup" snapshot from your side to return my database to its previous state? I cannot do it myself due to the plan restriction.

Additional comment:

I understand the update was for security reasons, but it would be very helpful to be notified in advance and given the option to postpone it, especially when it can break a production environment. Finding out that restoring the backup is locked behind a paid subscription when the problem was caused by an unsolicited automatic update is, at the very least, frustrating.

Thank you for your help.

The Pre-Security-Patch Backup you see in the Backups tab is a snapshot of your volume from immediately before the security patch, and it is retained for 30 days. Your MySQL volume still holds about 301 MB of data and the service is currently running, so the volume data was not removed by the patch. Restoring that snapshot is a self-serve action that requires the Pro plan ($20/month) - upgrading unlocks the restore you run yourself from the Backups tab. We don't perform backup restores on a customer's behalf.
