MySQL data recovery before volume deletion on October 23 — expired trial

Hello Railway team, my trial expired and my MySQL service is offline. I need to recover the existing database for migration to another host. The dashboard says mysql-volume is scheduled for deletion on October 23, 2026. There are no backups. The volume still exists and reports about 170 MB used, mounted at /var/lib/mysql.

Project: powerful-celebration. Service: MySQL.

I tried the current Railway CLI volume files command, but it failed with: "Service MySQL has no active deployment in environment production. Deploy or restart the service before using file commands."

Could you provide a secure database export, temporary access solely to run mysqldump, or another recovery method without subscribing to a paid plan? If possible, please extend retention while this request is reviewed. I only need to recover my data, and do not authorize any paid upgrade or charges. Please advise how to identify the project privately if needed. Thank you.

We can't reactivate a single service, run an export for you, or give separate access to the volume on a workspace whose trial has expired. We also can't extend the deletion date.

Your mysql-volume is still there with its data. To get to it without a paid plan, switch the workspace to the Free plan using "Downgrade to Free" on the Plans page. The Free plan doesn't require a subscription charge. Then redeploy the MySQL service so it starts again on that volume, and run mysqldump against it yourself, or use the CLI volume file commands, which only work once the service has an active deployment.

Please do this before October 23, 2026, when the volume is scheduled to be deleted.

I checked the Plans page as instructed, but there is no "Downgrade to Free" option and I cannot follow the suggested steps. Could a Railway team member review this and advise an alternative way to export the existing MySQL data or provide temporary recovery access without a paid upgrade? The volume deletion deadline is October 23, 2026. Please do not change or delete the volume.

The "Downgrade to Free" option isn't showing because your workspace has an unpaid invoice from August. It wasn't charged because the card on file has expired, and the Free plan can't be selected while an invoice is still open. Our earlier reply should have mentioned this.

We can't export the database, give temporary access to the volume, or extend the deletion date. Your data comes back the same way in every case: get the workspace back into good standing, then redeploy MySQL and run mysqldump yourself.

To do that, pay the open invoice from your billing page. Once it's paid, "Downgrade to Free" will be available on the Plans page, and switching to Free has no monthly charge. Then redeploy the MySQL service and export your data before October 23, 2026.
