MySQL Serverless flag not applied after downgrade to Free

Hello Railway team,

I downgraded my project from the Trial plan to the Free plan, and now my MySQL service cannot be deployed.

Project: pleasing-creativity

Environment: production

Service: MySQL

MySQL image: mysql:9.4

The MySQL service shows "Enable Serverless" as ON in Settings. However, every deployment fails with this error:

"Free plan deployments must be serverless. Please go to your service settings and turn on the serverless flag."

I already tried:

  • Turning Serverless OFF and then ON again.
  • Redeploying the MySQL service multiple times.
  • Waiting and trying again outside the Free plan peak deployment hours.

The deployment fails during the Build stage. Initialization completes, but Deploy never starts.

Build Logs:

"Free plan deployments must be serverless. Please go to your service settings and turn on the serverless flag."

Deploy Logs:

"No logs in this time range"

The MySQL service has an existing persistent volume named "mysql-volume" containing my database data.

Please help me synchronize/fix the Serverless flag for this existing MySQL service so that it can deploy on the Free plan.

IMPORTANT: Please do not delete, recreate, or detach the existing MySQL service or the mysql-volume, because I need to preserve the existing database and its data.

Thank you.

Try turning it off, redeploy, then on, then redeploy.

Alternatively, you can delete the service (it won’t delete the volume), create a new MySQL service, and swap the volumes.
