Hello Bryan,

railway doesn't have its own nameservers so what you need to do is go to your service settings, then public networking, and click on custom domain railway will give you two records to add at your dns provider: a cname record and a txt record. you need to add both of them, not just one. if you only add the cname you'll get a 404 error once both are added railway will verify your domain and show a green checkmark if you're using cloudflare make sure ssl is set to full, not full strict. dns can take up to 72 hours to propagate but usually happens faster

Hope this help you :)

Hey Brian, Heres a setup on how to find your nameservers

Step 1 — Find Your Domain Registrar

Your registrar is the company where you bought the domain.

Step 2 — Get Your New Nameservers

You need the nameservers from the service you’re switching to.

Examples:

  • Cloudflare might give:
    • maria.ns.cloudflare.com
    • john.ns.cloudflare.com
  • A hosting provider may give:
    • ns1.hostingcompany.com
    • ns2.hostingcompany.com

You MUST use the exact nameservers they provide.

Step 3 — Open DNS / Nameserver Settings

Example: Namecheap

  1. Log into:
    • Namecheap Dash
  2. Click Domain List
  3. Find your domain
  4. Click Manage
  5. Find Nameservers

You’ll usually see options like:

  • Namecheap BasicDNS
  • Custom DNS

Select:

  • Custom DNS

Enter:

  • ns1.example.com
  • ns2.example.com

Click:

  • Save (checkmark)

Example: Cloudflare Registrar

  1. Open:
    • Cloudflare Dash
  2. Select domain
  3. Go to:
    • Domain Registration
  4. Click:
    • Manage Domains
  5. Find:
    • Nameservers Cloudflare domains usually already use Cloudflare nameservers, but you can view them there.

Step 4 — Wait for Propagation

After saving:

  • Changes can take: * a few minutes * up to 24–48 hours Usually it’s under 1 hour nowadays.

Step 5 — Verify It Changed

Use:

  • DNS Checker Enter your domain and confirm the new nameservers appear.
