Hi Railway Support,
My Railway trial expired and my n8n service (hopeful-success) no longer has an active deployment. However, the persistent volume hopeful-success-volume still exists and contains approximately 67 MB of important n8n data.
The volume was mounted at /home/node/.n8n.
I installed the Railway CLI and tried to access the volume using railway volume browse /, but received:
Service hopeful-success has no active deployment in environment production. Deploy or restart the service before using file commands.
I also tried railway service redeploy, but received:
No deployment found for service
I only need temporary read/download access to recover the contents of this volume, particularly database.sqlite, which contains my n8n workflows.
Is it possible to temporarily access or export this retained volume without starting a paid deployment? I would like to recover the data before the volume is permanently deleted. please im just a student, i dont have enough money
Project: spectacular-friendship
Service: hopeful-success
Volume: hopeful-success-volume
Mount path: /home/node/.n8n
Thank you.

The volume is still attached to the hopeful-success service, but the CLI's volume file commands only work through a service with an active deployment, so there isn't a way to read or download it while nothing is deployed.
Your workspace has no active plan right now, so a deployment can't start. To get to the data, you'd subscribe to the Hobby plan from the workspace's Plans page. Once the subscription is active, the service is redeployed with the existing volume mounted at /home/node/.n8n. If it doesn't come back on its own, you can redeploy it manually. Then railway volume browse will work and you can download database.sqlite.
Volumes aren't kept indefinitely after a trial ends, so it's best to do this soon.
