I just signed up to hobby plan 4 days ago (07/14) and everything was working fine until today. I've been in contact with my bank and they've expressed that two $1.37 charges were made, however the authorization had expired for both. I'm now currently on a free plan with my project paused due to limits being reached.

Hello team, is there anything that can be done about this? Should I just resubscribe and hope it doesn’t fail again?

Hello!

Looking into this now.

Okay, I have a picture of what happened.

You were never on the Hobby plan, you are on the Free plan, but you did attempt to upgrade to it twice. Both times, you were met with the following error:

Prepaid cards can't be used for subscriptions. Please use a regular credit card.

So those two $1 USD charges were verification charges.

And then today, you went over your usage limit, so we shut down your services.

Ahh, that’s odd. I successfully paid a past due balance in order to downgrade to free plan using the same card. It would be better UX to see this error on the users front end as well

I guess that would make sense though as the past due balance wouldn’t be a subscription

Do you have any details on maybe supporting “prepaid” cards in the future? The card in question is from a provider called KOHO, which is basically a smart prepaid card. It functions the same as any other bank account.

If you don’t have any details I don’t mind submitting some feedback if you provide a link to the feedback page

We display that message as a red banner right above where you enter your card details in the modal to subscribe.

Yes, you can pay off a single invoice with a prepaid card, but you cannot sign up for a subscription with a prepaid card.

We used to support prepaid cards but decided to discontinue support, and have no plans to add support back.

No, unfortunately it’s the only card I have so I won’t be able to continue service

I'm sorry to hear that.

I really wish there was a way, I’ve been mostly enjoying Railway. I love its features and ease of use. Perhaps I’ll return if things change in the future

Is there any way I can prepay a couple months with a one time charge?

I'm sorry but we no longer support pre-paid.
