Hi,
My project's trial period ended and the Postgres database service is now offline. I tried to purchase the hobby plan but my debit card got rejected. My credit card will be available next week, so in the meantime I'd like to migrate off Railway, but I'm unable to do so.
I need to retrieve the data currently stored in my Postgres database (it hasn't been deleted, just offline). Could you help with one of the following:
A temporary reprieve to bring the database service back online briefly so I can run a pg_dump export, or
A direct export/backup file of the database that I can download, or
Any other way to access my existing data without reactivating paid hosting.
I just need to retrieve my data — I'm not asking to resume hosting on Railway. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Your Postgres volume data is still intact (about 124 MB on the production volume), so nothing has been lost. We aren't able to temporarily reactivate services, run exports on a user's behalf, or grant access to data on stopped accounts. To retrieve your data, subscribe to the Hobby plan at your billing page - once the plan is active your services come back online and you can connect and run pg_dump yourself. Note that volume data on expired trials is retained for 30 days after expiry, so acting within that window is important.

I cannot subscribe to the hobby plan because it doesn't accept debit cards

We do accept bank-issued debit cards, so the rejection is likely coming from your bank rather than from us. Contacting your bank to authorize the transaction, or trying a different bank-issued credit or debit card, would be the next step. Prepaid and virtual cards are not supported. Your Postgres volume data (~124 MB) is retained for 30 days after trial expiry, so you still have time once you have a working card.

To export your Postgres data, you would connect to the database and run pg_dump. Since your trial has expired and the database is currently offline, subscribing to a paid plan at your billing page will bring your services back online so you can run that export. Your volume data (~124 MB) is still retained, so once the plan is active you can dump and migrate immediately.

I want my data without paying anything. How can you not give it to me unless I subscribe to your plan. Please provide me with a human to talk to!

We understand the frustration, and we're sorry we don't have a better answer here. Accessing data on a stopped account requires an active paid plan. We aren't able to temporarily reactivate services, run exports on your behalf, or provide data access outside of an active subscription. To retrieve your data, subscribe to the Hobby plan ($5/month) at your billing page, and your services will come back online immediately so you can run pg_dump and export everything. Your earlier card declines were caused by a block on our payment processor's side, which has now been resolved. You can retry with your debit card, or use your credit card when it becomes available next week. Your volume data is still retained, so you have time.
