Hello Railway team,
Immediately after I upgraded to the paid Hobby plan today, a redeploy was triggered automatically, and my n8n service came back up with a completely empty database. All production workflows and credentials that were stored on the attached volume are gone — the volume now contains only a fresh empty database.sqlite, plus a lost+found directory at its root, which suggests the volume filesystem was reset during that redeploy.
This worked perfectly for ~3 weeks before the plan upgrade.
Details:
Project: delightful-contentment
Environment: production
Service: n8n (image n8nio/n8n)
Volume: n8n-volume (ID vol_3wker3c0h12rqut1)
Region: sfo
The breaking redeploy is the one triggered right after my upgrade to the Hobby plan today (June 1).
Backups tab shows none (we were on the free plan before).
My question:
Do you keep ANY internal volume snapshot, restore point, or platform-level backup that can recover this volume to its state before the Hobby-plan upgrade / that redeploy? This is business-critical — the database held all workflows and credentials for our live WhatsApp/Instagram sales automation.
Please do NOT wipe or modify the current volume. I only need to know if recovery or rollback is possible.
Thank you.

This thread is a duplicate of n8n volume permission denied after plan change / redeploy. Closing this one.
